My 7 Favorite Ideas for your next 75 Gallon Aquarium
This year I have xenotoca eiseni, variatus platy, staeck, and lime green endlers, Platinum rice fish and the obligatory white cloud minnows in tubs. Also 3 tubs of various mixed or mutt guppy variations. Happy tubbing!
My Orange Rice Fish are breeding in outdoor tub like crazy!!
Nice!
Thanks for sharing, Mike! I’ve got one tub out in the backyard. Hoping to see some fry soon.
Your welcome! Good luck with your tub. Hopefully you will have tons of fry
Two reasons why your plants are struggling: A. green water tends to out compete all but the hardiest submerged plants. B. Even really powerful aquarium lighting is weak compared to sunlight. Plants brought out from inside are often shocked for a period by the light, and I've even have them fully bleach out and die off. I've had some luck putting indoor plants in a container on a shaded porch or other area which doesn't catch any direct sun for a couple weeks to acclimatize them to outdoor light. You might also want to try checking a local nursery or garden center for emergent or trailing plants like rushes (Juncus sp.), Creeping Jenny (Lysimachia nummularia) or mint. The latter two can be planted in pots coming out of the water and they will send out runners into the water which throw down dense roots, great habitat for fry. Floating plants like water lettuce (Pistia), water hyacinth (Eichhornia), frogbit (Limnobium) and others are also great for outdoor tubs, especially for providing shade in the hottest days of summer. Getting a bunch of plants going will help fish feel more secure, and will be more visible when they feel like they have multiple places to hide.
Thabks for all the info. I will have to look into those other plants
I thought Goodeids preferred cooler water temperatures?
They do fine with warmer daytime temps as long as the tubs cool down at night - it's sustained heat that's detrimental to them. Also, if a tub is deep enough the surface water can be 90F+ while the water at the bottom remains in the 70s.
Bathyphila pretty much answered it. I really keeping Xenotoca outside in the summer. They always seem to do pretty well
wow very awesome video update nice footage
Your welcome. Glad you enjoyed the under water footage. I really like filming the under water stuff as well
Great update 👍👍👍
Thanks 👍
Very cool. Hope you get some babies. Thanks for sharing
Your welcome Mark! Looking forward to seeing the results at the end of the summer
Thanks for the update. It hit 113 today in Northern California. Fish club members were trading tips about cooling off tubs.
Wow that pretty hot. The highest this summer has been low 90s
Looking good! I really like the underwater footage. Good luck seeing lots of fry!!
Thanks. I really enjoying filming the underwater stuff as well
I have a group of 6 with a male betta. They get along great. Theyre in a 20g long
Nice.
Pěkné ryby, dávám laik 👍
Thx

You found a gem - the owner was originally partnered in another local aquaculture store, but left and started Aquatica. I don't know the reasons, but I can imagine. I no longer shop the other because of poor quality and care, but Aquatica follows quarantine procedures and sells quality only in my experience. If I ever get my guppy and swordtail strains to my liking, they will be the people selling them. Thanks for showcasing a truly quality store.
Glad you enjoyed the video. I really enjoyed my trip there.
Hello Mike. Thank you for another great video. I really enjoy how you film the fish. You actually give us enough time to look at the fish and get to see them. And not just zip through and only give us a second to see them. I know the others are just trying to give us an opportunity to see as many as possible, but what's the point? When you can't get a good look at the fish? I hope this doesn't seem harsh to you but it is what it is. I much prefer your way. Thank you and I hope you've had a great weekend 😊.
Thanks for the complements Cathy. I try not to zip through them if I can. You may not see all the fish but I do try get the best footage of the fish I shoot (FYI Fish stores are really hard to film with the glare). Thanks again for watching.
Great store and some neat tanks
Thanks Skull. I really did enjoy the store
very nice!!
Thanks Rocking Fish!
let them grow to adulthood
I might do that at some point for fun
@@FishTankBarnw
Beautiful corals and fish 👍👍👍
Thanks I really enjoyed my time there
very nice, thanks for sharing!
Your welcome. Glad you enjoyed the video.
I love saltwater tanks. I would have one .myself but I know my limitations. And I don't want to risk the lives of the fish or the corals. So I just enjoy watching other people's tanks and satisfy my itch that way.😊
Understood Cathy, glad that you enjoyed the video
Holy smokes, that place is amazing😮. It makes me want a saltwater aquarium, my wallet is already crying 😅
It was one of the most impressive places that I have been to. Glad you enjoyed the video
Fishies :D
👍
What do i do if i accidentally keep 4 swordtails in my 20 high tank, I feel a bit stupid now because i had NO idea they got that big.
You probably would be ok with just 4. You might want to move a larger group to a bigger tank
@@FishTankBarn like what size would you say? 35 gallon?
@@maricelarivera-garrison8660 I would say 29 or 40 breeder depending on how big your group is
love it
Thanks. I was really happy with what I found
My favorite are the Bluetail Blue Goodeid. I breed 100s of them.
Nice. I really enjoy them as well
Wow GREAT HAUL!!!!!!
Thanks. I was really happy with what I found.
Great video and amazing fish. Thanks for sharing
Thanks Mark!
I always love the fish you bring into your fishroom. I really like the Characodon Audax El Tobosco 😍
The Audax is one of my favorites as well. Though I have struggled to breed it.
Where in Michigan? Would love to go there sometime
They have it twice a year (fall and spring). It’s in Mattawan Michigan. Follow Southwest Michigan Aquarium Soceity for more information
Very good fish store.👍
Thanks. I really enjoyed my visit there.
Can you charge this and discharge at the same time? I wanted to run this with a Solar Panel/Power Bank combo for a pond. This way the solar panel is outputing at all times to the air pump and if power runs out the air pump an continue on. Let me know!
Yes you can do that
Lil baby 🥹
Definately a cool litte creature
Agnoquatics is a favorite in our house! All the staff is knowledgeable and sincerely helpful. They also have a great quarantine process so you can be assured any fish bought are healthy and stay healthy. I was excited to see this video !
Nice! I have visited twice and both times have been extremely impressed
@@FishTankBarn I am hopeful this could someday lead to a relationship where the LFS could stock some of your fish, especially the less common live bearers. Did you happen to visit Aqutica? It is nice and Something Fishy has the best African cichlid selection.
Thanks for sharing 👍👍👍
Your welcome Skull! Thanks for watching
I really love seeing all the different fish that stores sell. I could spend hours looking through each tank at the different fish that they have in them. Thank you for sharing your trip with us. 😊
Your welcome! There are plenty more Ohio videos to come. It always interesting how each fish store sets up their business
Tolles Video. Danke Schön. 👍🏻
Thanks! Glad that you enjoyed it
I got Endler hybrids and they all died :,( im gonna try guppy’s since I hear they’re hardy since I want a colorful Livebearer and endlers are beautiful but hard to find we’re I am 😅 also I have shrimp so that doesn’t leave me with many options
What’s ur thought?
Guppies would be ok. If there is a local fish club in your area try finding them there instead of the fish store.
Oh ok i think i found some female cobra endlers but i will definitely see if i have a fish club near me 😊
A few mixing of species tanks. Tank space issues? Any thoughts of possible hybridization?
As long as you research the species there isn’t any risk of inter breeding.
I think Josh hit it on the head. In the wild some Goodied species do live together and don't interbreed. I generally don't keep mine together, but you with research you could keep some of them together.
Great video 😊 Detroit
Algae as in phytoplankton?
yes as in phytoplankton
Wow what a gorgeous Sword tank!! Beautiful healthy fish.
Thanks I appreicate it.
Nice healthy looking tank
Thank you
Are these freshwater seahorses or saltwater seahorses ?
These were saltwater at a saltwater store I visited when I was in Ohio
Fantastic although this makes me want things I don't have room for
Thanks. Understand that feeling
Thanks for the tour- someday I need to meet Josh in person 👍👍👍
You’re welcome. I enjoyed my time hanging out with Josh in his fish room
Thanks for coming! Really enjoyed hanging out!
Thanks for having me. It was a lot of fun
Awesome!!! Loved it!
Glad you enjoyed it.
@@FishTankBarn Yes I am in contact with him to get some fish! Did you get much?
I also caught some Gambusia affinis here in Greene County 👍
Nice. Funny where you can find these fish sometimes.
Hey Mike. Awesome change up. I really enjoyed your tour of this mans fish room. It's always good to see "normal" looking tanks. Because we know that not every tank is a show tank and will not be pristine. Especially when they're breeding tanks. Now don't get me wrong, show tanks are stunning and I can watch them for hours. But when touring a breeding fish room, this is what I expect to see. Ya know what I mean? I'm not trying to step on any toes. I'm just trying to compliment him. But i feel like I put my foot in my mouth. LOL 😆. That was not my intention. 😮. Anyways thank you for the video. I very much enjoyed it ☺️. I really liked the Skiffia Francessae. Would you do a species spotlight on them sometime in the future? When you get time? I would love to learn about them. Have you ever kept them before?
Cathy absolutely agree with you. I enjoy real fish rooms as well. I unfortunately don’t have skiffua Frances’s so I don’t have that much footage in them so it will probably be awhile before I can do a profile on them. I could do multipunctata since I own those.
@FishTankBarn OH yes please. I'm really eager to learn any knowledge that you want to pass on. I mean that any of us can Google any fish and learn a generic bio on them. But it is soooo much better to learn hands on experience from the fish masters themselves. They've learned from hard work, trial and error, and know what to pass on to us to help us be successful. Oh and not to kill the poor fish either. LOL. 😁
